Description
A view of a man driving a cow to draw water from a well in Al Ain / Buraimi oasis. In the foreground a well topped with a wooden frame sits in the midst of a bare and parched field. At the well a man drives a harnessed cow forward to raise water from the well. In the distance beyond a stone watchtower rises above in a small band of trees and grasses growing behind the well. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
