Description

View of a j?lb?t [jalboot], a small type of dhow (sailboat)in the Persian Gulf between Dubai Emirate and Bahrain Island. The j?lb?t flies one sail from its single mast and pulls a rowboat behind it. A beach dotted with tall trees runs along the horizon behind the j?lb?t. The ocean surrounding the j?lb?t is flat and calm, and above the sky is empty of clouds. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
