Description
Group portrait of a crowd of Arab or Bedouin men sitting in a circle outside a building in the region of Al Ain oasis. A number of men holding rifles and camel sticks sit in a circle in half shade. All the men wear thobes (long shirts) and headscarves (ghutra). At the centre of the group a young boy sits in front of an older man. In the far left background an adobe building with triangular wall decorations is visible. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
