Description
Full length profile portrait of Ghazala ('the gazelle'), a famous thoroughbred Batina camel owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and renowned for its beauty and speed. The saddled camel stands in an open area of flat sand, facing towards the left. Behind the camel bushes grow in the sand. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan loaned Ghazala to Wilfred Thesiger for his May 1-10, 1948 journey from Al Ain oasis to Sharjah.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
