Description

Portrait of three members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party sitting around a fire in the Wadi al 'Ayn. On the left Salim bin Kabina, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, sits to the left of a fire, on which a kettle is heating. Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, sits in the centre of the three men, tending the fire with a stick. On the right Muhammad bin Al Jabari, a tribesman of the Awamir Bedouin, kneels beside the fire, facing towards the left. Behind them saddlery, rope, pots, blankets and other equipment lie in the sand. In the distance behind them scattered trees dot a flat plain.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
