Profile portrait of an Arab man, one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides, riding a camel during the party's journey from Jabal Sumeini to the port city of Sharjah. The man, a retainer of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, kneels in his saddle [the camel's lower legs are cut off by the frame]. He wears a thobe (long shirt) topped with a cartridge belt and has a rifle slung under his left arm. His ghutra (headscarf) is wrapped closely around his head and face. In the background large bushes grow across a vast flat plain.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
