Description

Portrait of a thoroughbred female batina camel, which Wilfred Thesiger owned in 1950, standing in the sands near Al Ain. The camel stands in the central foreground, half turned in profile towards the left. It is wearing the traditional form of guiding harness, which consists of a chain halter, a neck rope, and a head rope, and it is swinging its tail. In the background clumps of vegetation grow scattered on rolling sand dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
