Description

View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party standing on a dune in Liwa oasis. The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands with his hands on his hips at a high point on a dune ridge. Behind him are a few more ridges of dunes, and beyond a large salt flat (sabkha) dotted with vegetation. A few clusters of thicker vegetation grow along the far edge of the salt flat, where the flat meets high, sheer-faced dunes. At the left, a stray camel stands in the midst of the sands.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
