Description
View of one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides standing in a valley on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] mountain. In the foreground a man wearing a thobe (long shirt) and ghutra (headscarf) stands on the floor of a rocky valley. On the left a few bushes grow beside a large rock shelf projecting out of the valley floor. High limestone walls rise on either side of the narrow valley and into the far distance. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.
