Description
Full length portrait of one of Wilfred Thesiger's guides standing on a rock outcrop below Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] mountain. In the right foreground a man in an izaar (wraparound skirt), holding a ghutra (headscarf) over his head, stands on the edge of a rock. In the background a flat dotted with sparse vegetation sits below the high jagged limestone cliffs of Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit]. The limestone cliffs slope across the far distance from high on the left to low on the right. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
