Description
View of two members of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party men preparing coffee in the Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. On the right an Arab falconer from Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party sits in the sand holding a pot. He wears a ghutra (headscarf) and a thobe (long shirt) topped with a cartridge belt and leather suspenders. On the right another man, wearing a thobe and a taqiyah cap, sits beside a fire looking into a supply bag. In the central foreground a number of items for making coffee sit in the sand, while behind them sheep graze on a large bush. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
