View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride up a dune. The lead man is holding a camel stick, and is followed by a line of baggage camels and another rider. In the background is a large salt flat (sabkha) encircled by high dunes. Scattered shrubs grow along the edges of the flat and up the far side of the dune.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
