Description

Portrait of an Arab falconer, a retainer in Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party, riding a camel with a falcon in the sands surrounding Al Ain. A falconer wearing a ghutra (headscarf) and a thobe (long shirt) kneels atop a tall camel. The falconer carries a hooded falcon on a mangalah (cuff) on his near arm and a camel stick in his other hand. The camel stands in profile facing towards the left, with its head turned slightly towards the foreground. The sand dune on which the camel stands is ridged with small, secondary dunes and a dotted with a few clumps of vegetation.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
