Description
View of a grove of palm trees at a Liwa oasis. In the foreground a few tufts of qassis (sedge) grow along the top of a low sand ridge. Below the ridge young date palms, likely cultivated by local Bani Yas villagers, grow in a line along the salt flat amongst scattered salt bushes. In the far distance palms and salt bushes grow thickly along the bottom of a steep dune on the far left and scattered across the salt flat. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
