View of a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party standing on a dune in Liwa oasis. The man, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands with his hands at his sides on the crest of a low dune ridge. Behind him is another low sand ridge, and beyond that a vast salt flat (sabkha) dotted with vegetation. In the far distance groves of date palms grow along the far edge of a salt flat where it is bordered by high, sheer-faced dune massifs.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
