Description
Profile view of two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking in the Al Dhafra sands, north-west of Liwa oasis. In the foreground two of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions ride camels across a flat stretch of sand dotted with tufts of qassis (sedge). The man on the left holds on to the head rope of the camel walking behind him. In the distance behind them low rolling dunes dotted with qassis continue into the horizon below a cloudless sky. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
