Description
Side view of three members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party companions climb up the slope of a sand dune in Liwa oasis. In the foreground three of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions follow tracks up the side of a dune. On the left one man walks up the slope, leaning on his camel stick. Behind him two men, one of whom carries a rifle, lead a camel by its head rope up the slope. Behind the men sky is streaked with a thin haze. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.
