Description
Close up portrait of Alaiwa bin Lutaiya, a member of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, sitting in camp near the Wadi Samhan. Alaiwa bin Lutaiya, a tribesman of the Marakhin lineage of Duru Bedouin, sits with his body half facing to the right, his face turned directly forward. His eyes are closed, and he wears a plain ghutra (headscarf) and a dark thobe (shirt). In the background vegetation grows on a sand dune.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
