Description
View of Wilfred Thesiger's party at a well in the plains below Hamrat ad Duru, during the party's journey from Masruq well to Al Hubi village. Members of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin travelling party sit around a well opening. One member of the party is crouched inside the opening of the well, and behind him Alaiwa bin Lutaiya (right), a tribesman of the Marakhin lineage of Duru Bedouin, stands watching the others with his hands on his hips. Huaishil, a sheikh of the Mahamid lineage of Duru Bedouin, sits just left of Alaiwa. He is wearing a light coloured thobe (shirt), topped with a waistcoat, and an embroidered headscarf that partially blocks his face from view.
