Description

Distant view of a camel belonging to Wilfred Thesiger's party grazing in Al Batin sands in the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). The camel is walking across a large expanse of soft sand dotted with sparse vegetation. It is laden with baggage and is wearing a head rope. At the left is a large salt flat (sabkha). In the far distance high dunes border the flat.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
