Description
Seated portrait of a tribesman of the Rashid Bedouin at an encampment near Bir al Tawil in the Ramlat ar Rabbad. This man is the son of Muhammad, a sheikh of the Rashid Bedouin, with whom Wilfred Thesiger stayed for a few days during his first crossing of the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). He is sitting cross-legged in the sand next to a small pile of firewood and a mat piled high with chunks of meat. In his right hand he holds a large curved dagger.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
