Description
View of Wilfred Thesiger's party travelling in the Al Khatam sands south of Al Ain, on their journey towards Al Humrah sands. In the left foreground four of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions ride their camels in an expanse of bare sand. The man in the lead, riding the near camel, is Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin. The three men riding behind him are Salim bin Kabina (far left), a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, Musallim bin Al Kamam (centre back), a sheikh of the Musaifar lineage of Rashid Bedouin, and Sahail bin Tahi (right), a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin. Behind them on the right the crest of a low dune rises out of bare flat sand.
