actual image size: 32cm x 21cm

View of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's hunting party unloading camels in Al Khatam sands near Al Ain. In the foreground four men and a young boy (centre) unload couched camels in the midst of a vast flat plain dotted with scattered clumps of vegetation. On the far left one man unloads a couched camel, while behind him two men work next to a standing camel. In the centre a little boy removes a saddle from a couched camel, while behind him a hobbled camel stands on three legs. On the right a fifth member of the party removes a saddle from a large pale camel. Behind them a vast rocky sand flat stretches into the far horizon. This image was taken between December 20, 1948, and January 27, 1949, during which time Wilfred Thesiger stayed with Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in Al Ain and joined him on a number of hunting excursions.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
