Description
Standing three-quarter length portrait of two members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party at a well south-west of Al Ain oasis. On the left Salim bin Ghabaisha, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands in profile, looking back over his shoulder into the left distance. On the right a second man holds out a leather bag full of water for one of the camels waiting nearby. Behind them a sand dune dotted with clumps of vegetation fills the background. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
