View of sailors hoisting the main sail on a dhow (sailboat) in the Persian Gulf near Dubai. In the foreground a lifeboat filled with sails and rigging sits on the deck of a dhow. Behind the raft a line of sailors hauls on a rope. Above them the main sail is rising towards the top of the mast. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
