The men haul water from the well via ropes and pulleys attached to the wooden frame over the well, the opening of which has been reenforced with concrete or rammed earth. He wears a thobe (long shirt) crossed with leather bandoliers attached to a cartridge belt and an embroidered ghutra (headscarf).
Camels wait around the well for water. In the background a vast flat plain dotted with bushes stretches out into the far distance.
