Description
Standing full length portrait of Wilfred Thesiger and his camel taken during his party's journey from the As Saruq sands to Abu Dhabi. Wilfred Thesiger stands in a large expanse of flat sand to the right of the camel on which he made his second journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). He is wearing a headscarf, a long shirt (thobe), and a khanjar (dagger) in a cartridge belt around his waist. He holds a camel stick in one hand and the head rope of his camel in the other. His camel, saddled and loaded with gear, stands at the far left.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
