Description
Group portrait of a young Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan standing with retainers and family in Al Ain. A little boy (perhaps Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan) kneels in the sand to the left of three people who are standing. Each of those standing holds a rifle in their right hand. The boy, who stands between two of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's retainers, is Sheikh Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. In the background low sand dunes and trees sit in the far distance. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
