Description
Standing profile portrait of one of Wilfred Thesiger's Arab guides atop Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] mountain. In the foreground an man wearing a thobe (long shirt) and ghutra (headscarf) stands at the right in a flat area covered with small rocks. He holds two rifles and a camel stick. Behind him a jagged ridge of limestone juts out of the mountain in small peaks across the near left distance. In the far right distance lies a vast flat plain dotted with sparse vegetation. Wilfred Thesiger spent a week on Jebel Hafeet [Jabal Hafit] hunting Arabian Tahr [Hemitragus jayakari] with Arab and Bedouin guides in April 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
