Description
Portrait of Muhammad al Auf, a tribesman of the Bayt Mbarik lineage of Rashid Bedouin and one of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions, loading his camel in the Ramlat ar Rabbad sands. Muhammad al Auf adjusts baggage and blankets on the camel couched in front of him. The camel's mouth is open and its forelegs are hobbled. The camel is wearing two different halters, one made of twine, the other made from chain and leather.
