Description
Portrait of a sailor climbing up the mast of a dhow (sailboat) in the Persian Gulf near Dubai. A sailor uses ropes to climb up one of the dhow's masts, from the top of which many thick ropes hang. Further behind him a large striped sail hangs, and on the left another of the dhow's masts is visible. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
