Wilfred Thesiger (left) and Salim bin Kabina (right), a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, crouch in pebbly ground. Each holds a rifle and each wears a cartridge belt with suspenders over their thobe (shirt). In the background the limestone cliffs of Jabal Hafit (Jebel Hafeet) rise in the distance.
