Description
Seated portrait of Sahail bin Tahi, a member of Wilfred Thesiger's party, at a camp fire in the region of Baynunah sands. Sahail bin Tahi, a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin, kneels holding a piece of cloth in his lap next to a fire. In front of him a tea urn sits beside a bag in the sand while nearby a coffee urn heats on the fire. He wears a plain ghutra (headscarf) tied around his head and a light thobe (long shirt). Behind him a pile of firewood sits in the sand on the right. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
