View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands, near Liwa oasis, in the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali). In the foreground members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride along the crest of a high dune towards a distant expanse of dunes. Baggage camels follow along behind the men's mounts. In the far distance another member of the party crosses a far ridge. In the distance low wind-rippled bare of vegetation stretch out to the horizon.
