Description
View of sailors changing the sails on a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. Three men perch on a sail yard attached to the mast of a dhow. On the left one man crouches next to the mast, behind a ripe of rope. Two men, one sitting and one standing, balance at the right end of the yard. Behind them the sky is clear and empty of clouds. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.
