View of a camel belonging to Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party on a salt flat in Al Batin sands. In the foreground thick clumps of leafy zahra (yellow-flowering tribulus) bloom with small flowers grows alongside clumps of long qassis (sedge). In the far distance a hobbled camel wanders across the salt flat amongst scattered vegetation. In the far distance dunes rise above the salt flat along the horizon. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
