Description
Portrait of Salim bin Kabina, one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin companions, standing in Al Khatam or Al Humrah sands south of Al Ain. In the foreground a large bare branch lies across sand rippled by secondary dunes. In the near distance beyond, Salim bin Kabina, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands looking into the near foreground. He balances a rifle, in a tasselled case, on his shoulder and holds a camel stick. In the far background other members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trek across rolling dunes. In the far right distance a member of the party sits at the top of a high dune, which rises to a point at the far right.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
