Description

View of Wilfred Thesiger's party trekking through the As Saruq sands north of Liwa oasis during their journey to Abu Dhabi. A vast expanse of low sand dunes stretches out into the distance in all directions. The dunes have low sides which rise into small crescent-shaped crests. In the foreground the side of a dune is ridged with tiny, secondary dunes. In the centre three members of Wilfred Thesiger's party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, lead camels on foot through the dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
