Description
View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions watering camels at a well near Sharjah city during the party's journey from Jabal Sumeini to Sharjah. A number of men and camels crowd around a well. Above the well is a wooden frame made from long branches, and below the opening is reenforced with concrete or rammed earth. Salim bin Ghabaisha, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands second from the right, leaning one of the wooden poles. He wears a thobe (long shirt) with the ends tucked into a ball at his waist by his a cartridge belt and has his ghutra (headscarf) wrapped closely around his head.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
