Portrait of Wilfred Thesiger's Rashid Bedouin companions at a well in a date palm grove at Liwa oasis. Five men stand around a well in front of a few date palms. A man in a light coloured thobe (long shirt) and dark ghutra (headscarf) stands at the far left of five men. Next to him 'Amair bin 'Omar, a tribesman of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands holding out a leather bag full of water. In the centre right a man in a dark ghutra and thobe holds onto the arm of another man in a light coloured thobe. On the far right Sahail bin Tahi, a tribesman of the Mudairiba lineage of Rashid Bedouin, stands with his back to the camera. He has a full beard and has his thobe tucked into his wraparound skirt. Behind the men sits a line of palms and a rolled up mat covered with palm fronds. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's journey from Al Ain to Liwa oasis, Al Dhafra and Baynunah sands in November and December 1948.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
