View of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, ride in a line across a large salt flat (sabkha) with their baggage camels. The flat is dotted with salt bushes. The sands in the foreground are bare except for a few scattered twigs and a lone bush at the right. Behind the men a large wind-rippled dune rises in the distance.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
