Description
Seated profile portrait of Alaiwa bin Lutaiya, a guide in Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, taken during the party's journey from Ramlat al Ghirbaniyat to Furai well. Alaiwa bin Lutaiya, a tribesman of the Marakhin lineage of Duru Bedouin, sits facing to the left, with his hands folded in his lap. He wears a striped ghutra (headscarf) and a light coloured thobe (shirt). In the background vegetation grows in flat sand.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
