Description
View (looking south-east) of buildings at Santa Ana pueblo, with cattle in a corral in the foreground. According to James Stevenson's original note for this photograph (prepared circa 1885), the people of the pueblo 'are contemplating the abandonment of their present village on account of the enormous sand-drifts which threaten to envelope it. Some of the houses of the village are erected on the tops of others in consequence of the heaping sands. The effects of sand-drifts are plainly shown in the photographs.'
