View of sailors hoisting sails on a dhow (sailboat) travelling through the Persian Gulf from Dubai to Bahrain Island. In the left foreground an African boy sits behind an array of rigging. Nearby a lifeboat sits on deck covered with rope. Right of the boat two lines of sailors pull on a thick rope. On the far right one man pulls on the ropes attached to a pulley. High above them a sail fills with wind. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
