Description
Seated portrait of Mahalhal bin 'Ati, one of Wilfred Thesiger's Bedouin guides, eating a meal during the party's journey from Ramlat al Ghirbaniyat to Furai well. Mahalhal bin 'Ati, a tribesman of the Al Khamis lineage of Awamir Bedouin, sits in the foreground. He wears a light coloured thobe (shirt) and a dark coloured ghutra (headscarf). In the background a man stands on the left (partially cut out of the frame), while in the far distance lies a vast empty plain.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
