Description
Profile portrait of a tribesman of the Junuba Bedouin, one of the retainers of Sulaiman bin Hamyiar, in the region west of the Hamrat ad Duru. A tribesman of the Junuba Bedouin holds his hand in front of his mouth and faces towards to the left. He wears a thobe (shirt) and an embroidered headscarf that has a whole in it. This man was sent by Sulaiman bin Hamyiar to accompany Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party from Al Hubi village to Al Ain. Sulaiman bin Hamyiar is a sheikh of the Bani Riyam tribe which occupies the region surrounding Jabal Akhdar.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
