Description
View of a village in Al Ain oasis. In the near distance a field dotted with large tufts of vegetation sits in front of a small village in the Al Ain/Buraimi oasis. On the far left an adobe wall of a near house is visible. Behind it a number of square 'arish huts made from date palm fronds have been built on the field, along with an adobe building on the far right. In the far distance the tower of a further adobe building is visible alongside a grove of tall date palms. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
