Description
Full length profile portrait of a thoroughbred Batina camel in Al Ain oasis. A Batina camel stands on a sand dune in sparse dry grass, facing towards the right. It is saddled with an Omani style wooden saddle. Directly behind it is a low rock mound, and in the sand surrounding it a few trees and bushes grow. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
