Description

View of Wilfred Thesiger's party trekking through the As Saruq sands north of Liwa oasis during their journey to Abu Dhabi. The foreground is an expanse of wind-rippled sand dotted with a few sparse tufts of vegetation. In the distance beyond Wilfred Thesiger's travelling companions, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, walk camels in a trough between low dunes. Surrounding the party an expanse of low crescent-shaped dunes stretches out in every direction.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
