Description

Distant view of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party trekking through Al Batin sands during their journey across the Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) from Al Dhafra sands to Liwa oasis. Members of Wilfred Thesiger's travelling party, tribesmen of the Bayt Imani lineage of Rashid Bedouin, lead camels along the crest of a dune situated between two areas of flat sand. Three men are riding camels, one man leads his camels on foot. The far area is a salt flat (sabkha) which is enclosed by a ridge of high, sheer-faced dunes.

Due to the nature of these images, prints will reproduce any signs of age, wear or damage that occurred before they were archived by the Pitt Rivers Museum.
